Meeting with Craftsy instructors inspired me to take all of their classes. Eventually I hope to get there, but it will take awhile! I’m starting with Myra Woods’ class, “Modern Irish Freeform Crochet”. I have enjoyed crochet in the past, and would do more of it now if I wasn’t spending so much time knitting (and weaving). Myra reminded me of how much fun it is to crochet, and inspired me to incorporate it into my crafting life.
Don’t worry if you are not experienced with crochet, because Myra’s instructions are so clear that you can follow along if you have a very basic crochet background. Anyone who loves crafts should take this class, because the art form that is Modern Irish Free-form Crochet is stunning, and the history of it is fascinating. It is worth the price of the class to hear Myra tell about how the Irish created this crochet version of Venetian lace, and how Russian and Ukranian knitters have made it their own in recent years. The samples are just awe-inspiring. I’m not sure that I can carry off such a garment with the panache that Myra does, but I want to make one, just the same. Myra teaches how to work with international crochet charts, and I am going to need to refer back to this section quite a bit. I love the ability to do that with Craftsy classes! She gives very practical tips on what yarns work best, how to pick a crochet hook size, etc.
Myra is a warm and entertaining instructor. She is a wonderful person and a good friend, and now I can visit with her in class whenever I like! This is so cool!
“Modern Irish Freeform Crochet” is a terrific class, and I am just a few lessons in. I will post about my progress, and hope you will join me! Click HERE for 50% off the price of this amazing class.
