And the Winner is…..

Congratulations to Nadine (aka nfegram), who will be watching for a package of luscious “Yummy Toes” from Miss Babs in the mail!  Thanks to everyone who commented on the posts.  This was so much fun that I plan to have many more give-aways in the future.

Next, hearty congratulations to Cheryl Scallon, who was notified this week that she passed Level III of the TKGA Master Hand-knitting Program, and will be pinned as a Master Knitter in July at the National convention in Manchester, NH.  The TKGA Master Hand-knitting Program takes many years to accomplish.  I spent 8 years on it, and Cheryl has been working on it longer than that.  This is actually pretty typical.  It is a rigorous course, and not meant to be easy.  Many people don’t finish, and there is no shame in that.  Both Cheryl and I thought about discontinuing our efforts, toward the end.  My daughter shamed me into finishing, and if I am not mistaken Cheryl’s daughter did the same for her!

Cheryl found me, as many knitters do, when she was working on the Argyle socks for Level II and wanted some advice.  I love Argyles, as you know, and am always delighted to help.  Cheryl and I became friends, and continued to correspond as she worked through Level III.  It’s been a long, hard road, and I couldn’t be prouder and happier for her to have achieved this accomplishment.

And, I feel like a winner, too!  As I get notifications in my e-mail that you are ordering Books and PDF’s, every time it feels like a vote of confidence, and I am so thrilled that you are looking forward to “Annetarsia Knits”.  Some of you are contacting me for yarn information as you plan to buy yarn for projects – which gives me great joy. I’ve put “Post a list of yarn and yardage needed for projects, on the website” on one of my massive to-do lists!

Also, I got a lovely e-mail from Sharon, who took the Argyle Socks class at Stitches West.  Look at the beautiful socks that she knit….

On the table you can see Sharon's sample sock that was knit in class, next to the class handout. Those lovely adult argyles are knit with Cascade Heritage sock yarn. She switched some colors, to make socks that look completely different, although most of the colors are the same. Beautiful!

I showed this photo to staff at my office, and they just couldn’t believe how wonderful the socks are.  They think I am really lucky to know so many talented knitters.  I think so, too!

hmm… I signed up for the Masters course — I still have the level I materials, but never completed it. Can I still turn it in? Has it changed?

You will need to look at the dates on your packet to see if there is a point where those instructions expire. After that date, you can still do the course, but will need updated instructions. Call the TKGA office if you have any questions, I am sure they will be able to answer any questions you have. Good luck!

The requirements are undergoing some changes as announced in the current issue of Cast on. They also give the recommendation to submit your materials before the changes take place. Be you are you are working with the current requirements. It is best to speak with the office, as Anne suggested so you will not be disappointed.
        GOOD LUCK!

According to the current issue of Cast On (p. 78-79), the new version of level one was available March 19, 2014. “if you have completed or are very close to completing level 1 and are ready to send it in, do so. If you are over the time limit for Level 1, you will need to contact the TKGA office for the updated level 1 materials. For those who have recently started or are in the middle of level 1, you can chose to continue working with your current version until 1 year from the date you received that version. Or, you can update to the new version and complete it.”

  4. Hmmmmmm, I started it about 40 years ago, my daughters were way too small to urge me on, and believe me, I gave up about 39 years ago, too much knitting and too little time! I am so very impressed with those of you who actually did it!!! HUGE congratulations to you!

Perhaps it is time to start it again. I am more than happy to mentor you along the way
