Excerpt from Annetarsia Knits Introduction:
I’d been happily knitting intarsia for a long time, pleased with my easy, flat knitting and invisible mattress stitch seams. I worked out ways to keep making it easier and more fun, and teaching other knitters to enjoy the technique as well. But in classes, there was always the question of “Can we do this in the round?”
Though there were methods for doing intarsia ITR, none were very appealing. It occurred to me that if I could find a way to easily do intarsia ITR, a whole world of design possibilities would suddenly open up for hats, mitts, gloves, socks, and other items that aren’t seamed. My imagination started working, and I became motivated to work this out.
As I started my research and development, Suzanne Pederson was looking for class ideas for the Madrona Fiber Arts Retreat. She was starting to offer “mini-classes” of 90-minute length. I blithely offered to teach an intarsia ITR technique, and now I had a goal. In the six months before the retreat, I was going to solve this riddle…
Annetarsia Knits is my journey of discovery and a reference book for learning my techniques to knit intarsia flat or in the round, in stockinette or garter stitch. The book also includes a motif library, and 28 patterns for using the new techniques. Students collaborated on the teaching workshops and designs that are included, and the content is designed for knitters of all skill levels.
Hardcover books are available at Annetarsia.com. Be among the only knitters to get your signed copy of Annetarsia Knits and be ahead of the curve on the new wave of intarsia. It’s going to be the hottest thing around.
